Welcome to Whittier Primary School!
It is truly an honor to serve as the principal of our Kindergarten through 2nd grade community. These early years are incredibly important — they are our first opportunity to spark a lifelong love of learning and help children (and families) feel connected to school in meaningful, positive ways. At Whittier, we believe school should be a place where children feel safe, valued, excited, and confident to try new things.
We are proud of the diverse and inclusive community we have built, where every child belongs and every family is welcomed. Our staff is deeply committed to nurturing the whole child — academically, socially, and emotionally — so that each student can grow into their best self.
Whittier uses a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework to create a supportive and encouraging school culture. Through clear expectations, consistent routines, and positive reinforcement such as Tommy Bucks, we focus on teaching students how to make good choices, build strong relationships, and take pride in their behavior and learning. We believe in recognizing effort, growth, and kindness as much as academic success.
Our teachers and staff are passionate, experienced, and dedicated to helping every child succeed. They work closely together to ensure that learning is engaging, supportive, and responsive to each child’s needs. Whether a student is mastering reading, building confidence, or learning how to be a good friend, we are here to guide and celebrate every step of the journey.
I look forward to working together with our families to make Whittier the very best place it can be — a school where children feel happy, challenged, and inspired to learn every day.
