While we promote student responsibility, we do understand that accidents happen and equipment fails. Each school's library will be your student's first stop to get support.  Our team will help ensure each student has a loaner device to participate in all instructional activities requiring a Chromebook while their device is in for repair. 

Internet access will be filtered both at school and outside of school. All FCS student-issued Chromebooks utilize cloud based internet filtering that gives flexibility and control to promote learning and exploration without hindering productivity or compromising end-user privacy.  This filtering is “always on” regardless of the device’s internet connection or location. Each student will use their FCS credentials to login to their device and access their online tools.

All internet history is preserved and can be reviewed anytime by asking your student to:

1. Open Chrome on their FCS Chromebook
2. Click:  in the top right corner of the browser
3. Click History  History

Note:  Even though internet content is filtered outside of school, monitoring will be less frequent when school is not in session due to limited staff and resources.  Please take care to monitor your student's use of their device outside of school hours.

We understand that accidents happen and strive to keep our costs to parents and families as minimal as possible.  If a device is taken in for repair and determined to have physical damage, there will be a small fee of $10 per incident.  To read more about our 1:1 device program insurance and fees for damages, please see our 1:1 device policy handbook.

It is critical each student have access to these devices to ensure they can connect to their school work, their peers and their teachers to support their instructional journey. While most digital resources will be available through other family or personally owned devices, state testing will only be accessible via FCS Chromebooks.   For info on opting out of the FCS 1:1 device program, please visit our Bring Your Own Device page.

If a student forgets their Chromebook, a process will be in place to check out a loaner device for the day from the school library. 

All student Chromebooks are expected to be charged when they arrive at school. However, we do understand this will not always be the case. The student may visit the school library to see about charging options.  Students may also be able to receive a loaner device while their device charges if this is necessary to avoid an interruption in instruction and or learning.

All school libraries have new Dell Chromebook power adapters on hand.  Your student can stop down to see the librarian to get a new charger if they have lost theirs.  There will be a fee of $25 for the replacement.
