The Impact of FCS
Heiserman-Wendt Family
In this group of nine family members, we love the many opportunities FCS has to offer. With different generations and personalities, we have all excelled in academia through FCS. We are very fortunate that Findlay offers so many extracurricular activities that have been a large part of our lives. As a group, we have been a part of baseball, soccer, golf, basketball, football, track, cheerleading, volleyball, Millstream, DECA, LEAD, STEM, enrichment, dance team, and twirling in the band.
We like to get involved and try to give back to the school. Sue volunteered many hours at Jacobs school and was also PTO president. She was on the board of the academic boosters and was an aide at Lincoln in the special education class. Stephanie follows in her footsteps, volunteering in schools and substitute teaching. She, too, was a PTO president at Wilson Vance. Corey has been on the Trojan Club board for the past 4 years, and Stephanie and Doug will joining him for the next several years.
As a family, we love all that FCS offers to our students and love being involved with the Trojan family. With Doug and Corey’s jobs, they have been offered places to move, but they’ve always chosen to stay in Findlay. It takes a village to raise children and we are lucky to have family and friends in Findlay that will help us raise wonderful children.

A Millstream Career Center Testimonial:
Evie Stump, owner of The Baking Company & Bread Kneads, stated that “Millstream Career Center is a wonderful foundation to prepare students for their future careers. The culinary program helped further my love for the baking and pastry arts. It also helped prepare me to run my own bakery. I would recommend Millstream to any student to jump in and get their schooling and career path in place.” Evie’s mother stated, “After researching Millstream and realizing culinary was a perfect fit for my daughter, it was a done deal. When she got into the program, they witnessed her passion and let her fly. The entire staff embraced her and she was her biggest cheerleader. Now she is the proud owner of The Baking Company & Bread Kneads!”

Ernst Family
We started our family at Findlay City Schools back in 2009 when our oldest daughter, Alli, started kindergarten. Two years later, our son, Sam, started kindergarten. We fell in love with the school system!
In 2015, we built a new home; still in Findlay, OH, but outside of the FCS district. There was no question, however, WE WOULD OPEN ENROLL! Keeping our kids at FCS was so important to us. Just this past fall, we welcomed our newest addition to the family, our son, Roger, who we adopted from Africa.
Over a decade later, we continue to marvel at all FCS offers our children! They have captivated us with amazing teachers, extra-curricular activities, incredible support staff, coaches, buildings, equipment, elaborate curriculum, endless opportunities, and now with our youngest child, Roger, we have learned how outstanding the ESL program is at FCS as well.
We are incredibly proud of our children, and FCS has played such a big part in building their character and helping them to be the best they can be! Thank you to FCS for all you’ve done and all you continue to do for our children!

I love all the amazing and enriching educational opportunities that Findlay City Schools provides for children. I have nothing but gratitude and positive experiences from my children’s involvement with Findlay City Schools. The teachers, aids, Speech Therapists, and Occupational Therapists that have had the opportunity to work with my children are excellent educators that help shape confident future leaders. They always provide creative ways to educate children that always exceed my expectations; be it through sensory dynamics, role play, cooking, gardening, art, and all STEM activities. They always make learning a fun experience.
I have had the privilege to mentor first graders in reading, through one of Findlay City Schools many educational resource opportunities for children, and I love seeing children blossom into the best of themselves when learning new things and seeing them grow in their love for reading. I see how confident they are in themselves when you encourage them and acknowledge that they are doing great and working hard. I really like how the teachers are so devoted to educating that they make sure that no child gets left behind and each child always receives all the right resources to be able to learn and grow into amazing leaders.
